Welcome to the Journal: Notes from the Hollow
A welcoming first note about what Obsidian Hollow is building—and how the Journal will make ingredients, cosmetic peptides, products, and rituals easier to understand.
August 31, 2026

Come in. Curiosity is enough.
Welcome to the Obsidian Hollow Journal—a place for ingredient notes, ritual guides, product-development stories, and honest conversations about what goes into the things we put on our skin and hair.
You do not need to know what a copper peptide is. You do not need a twelve-step routine, a shelf full of actives, or a working knowledge of cosmetic chemistry. If you are curious about how a product fits into your life, you are already in the right place.
Obsidian Hollow lives at the meeting point of science and ritual: research beside intuition, careful formulation beside a little crafted chaos. The atmosphere may be shadowy, but the information should never be.
Why this Journal exists
The skincare world has a language problem. Product descriptions can make simple ideas feel needlessly mysterious, while ingredient trends often arrive surrounded by dramatic promises. Cosmetic peptides are a perfect example. Their names can look intimidating, and the conversation around them can make it difficult to tell what they are, why they appear in a formula, or what a customer can reasonably expect from them.
This Journal is here to slow that conversation down.
We will explain ingredients in plain language, show why certain products were developed, talk about texture and routine placement, and be candid about the difference between a cosmetic benefit and a medical claim. When the evidence is nuanced, we will say so. When an answer depends on the complete formula—or on your own skin—we will say that too.
What you will find here
Future notes from the Hollow may include:
- beginner-friendly guides to cosmetic peptides and other ingredients;
- help choosing between products with similar purposes;
- simple instructions for introducing something new to a routine;
- formulation and packaging notes from the workbench;
- ingredient spotlights that separate what is known from what is merely fashionable;
- answers to questions raised by the Obsidian Hollow community; and
- new-release announcements and the stories behind them.
Obsidian Hollow is not meant to be a peptide encyclopedia disguised as a shop. Peptides are one tool among many, used where they suit the product and the experience it is designed to create. Some rituals will feature them. Others will not—and they do not need to.
The promise behind the poetry
Every Obsidian Hollow product should answer four useful questions:
- What is it?
- What is it intended to do?
- How should I use it?
- Why was it made this way?
The names, sigils, colors, and stories create the world around the product. Clear information is what helps you decide whether the product belongs in your world.
So begin wherever you are. Read one ingredient note. Ask the question that feels too basic. Learn what matters to you and leave the rest behind.
The Hollow has room for beginners.
